Our History
Sozo Life Ministries was birthed out of obedience! In the summer of 2014, God told then Elder Kysha Thompson to start a bible study in Hillsborough, NC. She obeyed and began the Tuesday Life Class at Kutz & Fades Barber Shop on September 2nd. She taught the unadulterated word of God and people began to come! Every week, the bible study grew and people began to ask for and need more.
God responded and encouraged Elder Kysha to walk in her calling and purpose. Once again, she obeyed God and was ordained as the pastor of Sozo Life Ministries on November 21, 2014. Pastor Kysha knew that God had a special plan for Hillsborough that He wanted her to be a part of, but she didn't know how He was going to bring it to pass. So she kept teaching her bible study and declaring the name of Jesus.
One Tuesday night, a young lady cried out to God for prayer and deliverance and once again, Pastor Kysha obeyed and agreed to come in on a Sunday morning for prayer. Little did she know, that was the beginning of her church. Pastor Kysha held her first official service on January 25, 2015 and Hillsborough has never been the same! She was assisted early on by her pastor John C. Fitzpatrick and spiritual family from One Love Ministries. But God had plans for Sozo Life Ministries and continued to send laborers until they outgrew their first home at Kutz & Fades and moved to 200 Cardinal Drive Suite C. The first official service at this location was held on February 22, 2015.
As the ministry grew, Pastor Kysha began to get further instructions from God, which led Sozo Life to move under the covering of Pastor Brandon Clack of All Nations Worship Assembly in Memphis. God has continued to build Sozo Life up as a church where the Word of God is preached, the name of Jesus lifted up and people are set free, healed and delivered. He has sent a powerful group of members that strive to live the mission and vision of the church every day! In the spring of 2017, God told Pastor Kysha that expansion was coming. Little did she know that Sozo’s next location was right next door! On June 11, 2017, Sozo held its first service in the new building and God continued to bless! In July 2017, the church reclaimed Suite C and in doing so, opened the door for even more.
Since the birth of Sozo Life Ministries, many milestones have taken place, and ministries have evolved: Church in the Park, conferences for women & youth, great outreach & evangelism events, Minister Valerie Choate, Minister Stephanie Taylor, and Minister Von Lee licensed as SOZO Ministers , installation of Pastor Ebony Bryant, creation of Children’s Youth Ministry (SOZO Next Generation), an arts ministry with dance, mime and flag, and much more! To God be the glory for what he has done and for the amazing things that are yet to come. We are destined to take deliverance beyond the walls and to be fully developed!
